Literally stuck at step 1. No matter what I do I always get: "Warning: Invalid CMS Database. Please go back to Step 1". Can't tell if I am missing something completely obvious or not. I am not using Xampp, but phpMyAdmin built into my cPanel given by my server host.

You need to create the CMS database manually. So go make a database and then when it asks for a database for the CMS, put the name of the database you created specifically for the CMS.

Please note: If you're using a web-host, Azer CMS is written with the explicit intention of being hosted on the same machine as the private server, and may or may not have functionality issues if hosted on a different machine rather than the intended machine.

Okay so did what you said. Originally I was using izanami_cms, but it wasn't working, so made another one izanami_web. Both are empty. Fresh, new databases. While the tc_auth and tc_char are both the SQL files from the Trinity core.

Did you want me to fill the database up completely manually or leave it blank? Should I just refund my $400 from my current host and just use it on my VPS like you stated?

You can attempt manual installation if you would like. I will include the steps below needed in order to perform a successful manual installation.

  1. Download these two files: CMS Database Contents (v3.1.4), Auth DB Columns

  2. Browse to your Auth Database and run the SQL file for the Auth DB Columns

  3. Browse to your CMS Database and run the SQL file to install the database

  4. Go to the global table in your newly installed CMS Database and refer to this FAQ to fill in the necessary information

  5. Go to ./core/config/, make a new file called config.php

  6. Edit config.php and copy in the contents of the config for v3.1.4 and later (see here)

  7. Edit the config to have the appropriate values

  8. Delete the install folder

Be sure to remember to set a Staff ID for your account and all other accounts. To access the ACP, the account will also need a rank of 2 (in the account table located in auth). Again, it is best to stick to the intended use-case of the CMS, but if you wish to utilize a web-host, that is your decision.
